My introduction to buttons were through necessity. I had to teach myself how they were created, the techniques and the materials. This was in the first lockdown and from this I fell down the button rabbit hole. 

The core of my bead buttons is a wooden bead that has a central hole for which I can pass the thread through. I have experimented with silks, linen, cottons and different sizes of beads. Silk gives a lovely feel, linen was painful and cotton is easier to obtain. 

I was commissioned to create some buttons for the television series Becoming Elizabeth. These were created using a gorgeous black silk thread.
